Royal Haskoning has trained 40 advisers, project managers, engineers and architects in-house in the Cradle to Cradle® way of thinking. Working with Michael Braungart and his close associates Douglas Mulhall and Katja Hansen over half a year, the company has turned the Cradle to Cradle® concept into practical applications for projects in various disciplines and fields of work. At the closing session in late December, Michael Braungart assessed the applications and enthusiastically endorsed them.
Inspired by Cradle to Cradle®
Royal Haskoning believes in Cradle to Cradle® and has drawn inspiration from it. This positive, refreshing approach seeks to achieve quality and maintain the value of raw materials, products and the living environment by constantly re-using rather than consuming. In short: how do we leave a positive footprint?
Royal Haskoning sees Cradle to Cradle® as an important development with regard to sustainability, maximising the scope for creative solutions to be found. Technical knowledge combines with experience of process and project management to make both sustainability and Cradle to Cradle® possible.
Applicable in practice
Royal Haskoning works on sustainability daily, in a wide range of projects and believes in the added value the positive agenda of the Cradle to Cradle® concept embodies. The company is investing in knowledge development and the application of the concept. But the challenge is bigger. Further steps are necessary, and can only be taken jointly with clients and other stakeholders.
In practice this means that consultants at Royal Haskoning have the expertise and knowledge about amongst others baseline studies, road maps and resource cycle analysis, policy development, feasibility studies and concept redesign, design and implementation of Cradle to Cradle® aspects, alliance building, and a platform for knowledge development and innovation.
Cradle to Cradle® is set to play an increasingly important role in Royal Haskoning's projects in 2010. In co-operation with clients and other stakeholders, the company is constantly working to develop the concept further.
