Cradle-to-Cradle chair initiated by business community

The Erasmus University in Rotterdam has authorized the Rotterdam Sustainability Initiative Foundation to establish a chair in ‘Cradle to cradle in relation to sustainable system innovations and transitions in theory and practice’. Professor Michael Braungart, cofounder of Cradle-to-Cradle, has been appointed to the chair by the Rotterdam Sustainability Initiative Foundation.Read more

DeltaCompetition 2008 Winners Announced

DeltaCompetition WinnersAfter a thorough assessment of the papers, the international panel of judges of the 2008 Delta Competition has chosen two winners from the five nominees. Fang Yenn Teo from Cardiff University, Wales won € 5000 with his paper ‘Mangroves, Natural Defence against Natural Disasters’. Duc Tung Nguyen, Karthik Ramanathan and Sameer Vohra from the University of Toronto, Canada, won a prize of € 10,000, with their team paper ‘Design and Deployment of Aquaponic Grid Communities. Natural Defences against Natural Disasters in Model Simulations’.

Royal Haskoning supports scira on major offshore wind farm

Royal Haskoning has been appointed to provide environmental consultancy and support to Scira Offshore Energy in its construction of the ‘Sheringham Shoal’ wind farm off the coast of Norfolk. A major infrastructure project, once complete the wind farm will cover an area of 35km2 and is expected to produce around 1.1TWh of electricity - enough to power over 200,000 UK homes.Read more
