UK ports feel they must do more to protect the environment

UK ports have made significant inroads in adhering to current environmental legislation but feel they could and should be doing much more, according to new research from engineering and environmental consultancy, Royal Haskoning. The ‘Green Ports’* survey of 100 port decision makers in Britain revealed that many recognise the growing importance of environmental management, with the majority (89%) of respondents stating that they already have an environmental policy in place. However, an equal number do not feel they are doing enough and have made a commitment to bolster their environmental skills base in the coming year.Read more

New Orleans water managers visit the Netherlands

Royal Haskoning is going to develop a demo version of a digital levee information management system for flood defences in New Orleans, together with its partners Fugro and HKV Lijn in Water. The project is being run for the local flood defence authority – the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority (SLFPA). Dutch expertise in this field is leading to interesting cooperation projects. This week, the SLFPA is visiting the Netherlands to find out more about the existing information systems run by the Delfland Water Board.Read more

Royal Haskoning gains European accreditation for the Code of Conduct for energy-efficient data centre consultancy

The European Commission has officially accredited Royal Haskoning as a supporter of the ‘Code of Conduct on Data Centres’ Energy Efficiency’. This code of conduct was established by the commission to promote efficient energy consumption in data centres.
