Implications of climate change on the Cheviots

Clientname: Environment Agency, Cheviots Hills (Northumberland and the Scottish Borders)
Year: 2008
Clienttype: National Authority
Location: United Kingdom
Expertise: Adaptation measures have been taken in order to deal with the various extreme climate change implications in the region.

The project is focused particularly on the impacts of severe and frequent flooding, drought and high temperatures on land use and habitats due to climate change in this area, including farming and forestry. Other impacts, such as wildfire, extreme wind speeds, and unusual and extreme combinations of weather, are considered in order to identify particularly vulnerable areas or land uses. A range of adaptation techniques and possible future management measures are reviewed.
