Expertise: Studying possibilities for developing and revitalizing natural landscape processes

Focusing on possibilities for developing and revitalizing natural landscape processes, Royal Haskoning carried out a report on natural climate buffers in the Netherlands. Studied habitats include rivers, estuaries, dunes, low-lying peat areas, and hilly areas. Reporting to the Dutch Minister of the Environment, the main focus was on the climate buffers effectiveness for safety, biodiversity, water-cycle behavior, and socioeconomic benefits.

The aim was to understand these functions and their possible contribution to more climate resilient landscapes. Also, possibilities for developing and revitalizing natural landscape processes in order to strengthen the existing ecological network across the whole of the Netherlands were sudied.
