Royal Haskoning performed a detailed sustainable design assessment for the Salam resort and spa in Oman.

The resort is located on Yiti Beach, near Muscat. The total area is 358 ha. The development type is a luxury destination resort and residential development. It will include villa's, hotel, spa, eco-centre, marina and a golf course.

The objective of the assignment is to assess the sustainability of the plans and to give recommendations for possible improvement. It is understood that these recommendations should be backed up by solid technical information, including reference to national and international standards, and include a life-cycle analysis of the costs.

As part of the detailed sustainability design assessment, Royal Haskoning assessed the following aspects of the project:

  • Power supply and renewable energy resources
  • Road System and alternative transportation options
  • Sewage collection system
  • Sewage Treatment Plant
  • Desalination & water supply system
  • Solid waste management system
  • Storm Water Management
  • Irrigation System
